MEET THE TEAM

Grant Tungay SJ
Grant is the Director of JISA. He is a lawyer who previously worked at the Jesuit Centre for Theological Reflection (JCTR) in Zambia. He is interested in social justice and Ignatian Spirituality. He enjoys spiritual accompaniment and is passionate about what St Ignatius can teach us about life and service.

Ursula van Nierop
Ursula is the Deputy Director of JISA. Ursula is involved in the day to day management of the Institute Office and the various projects and programmes that JISA offers.

Puleng Matsaneng
Puleng works in Spirituality and researches Ignatian Spirituality in an African context. Puleng is involved in spiritual accompaniment and directs retreats and courses for JISA.

Morongoa Selepe
Morongoa works in Spirituality especially with youth and promotes the integration of Ignatian Spirituality into the African worldview. Morongoa is involved in spiritual accompaniment and directs retreats and courses for JISA.

Peter Knox SJ
Peter has taught theology for the past two decades in Johannesburg, Pretoria and Nairobi. His doctorate was on the topic of AIDS, traditional African religion, and Christian salvation. For the last ten years, he has researched, published on, and taught Christian environmental ethics. He is also an experienced retreat director.

Sean van Staden SJ
Sean is a Jesuit in formation. He loves working in spiritual accompaniment, youth ministry, media, and reflection writing.

Gillian Hugo
Gillian works on and maintains the media presence of JISA as well as directing retreats and workshops specifically, for children/parents to help with Christian formation. Developing the area of “growth mindset” and “mindfulness” is also part of her role.
