Reflection for the 2nd Sunday in Ordinary Time – Year B

This Sunday, once again we are in the early part of the church’s calendar, 2nd Sunday in Ordinary time.

The readings today seem to point to the question of calling by God, and responding to God’s call. All too often when we look at call and response, we imagine it’s a simple straightforward action where somebody calls, usually God, and someone responds”: in religious contexts ‘Yes Lord’ and then follow the Lord’s calling. But is it that simple?

Join Fr Anthony Egan SJ as he reflects on the readings for the 2nd Sunday in Ordinary Time.

You can find the texts that this reflection is based on in your bible, or simply just hover your mouse over the following references and the texts will also appear:

1 Samuel 3:3-10,19; Psalm 40:2,4,7-8,8-9,10 ; 1 Corinthians 6:13-15,17-20 & John 1:35-42
