LISTEN: Reflection for the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord – Year A

This weekend on Sunday, 2 February 2020, the Catholic Church celebrates the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord. It is a feast 40 days after Christmas that celebrates the presentation of Jesus at the Temple in accordance with the Jewish observance of the law and where the welcome and warning of Simeon is heard. We are reminded that Christ, our Light, has come into the world, and we are called to consider how we allow Christ to encounter us. This feast, where Jesus is presented to God and the people, shows us also who surrounds Jesus. From the beginning he is surrounded by his family in Mary and Jospeh, and faithful prophets, like Simeon and Anna.
