LISTEN: Reflection for the 2nd Sunday of Lent – Year C
In Lent we are invited to exercise our “spiritual muscles” – today we are presented with Jesus and a few of his close companions on a hike up mount Tabor.
Jesus takes time out with his friends. He takes time out of so-called normal life and goes up Mount Tabor, away from the ordinary.
Lent is a period in which we are invited out of normal life – away from the ordinary – to put all in our lives in perspective. We are asked to carve out time in the midst of the busyness of our lives to seek clarity and perspective on who we are as the sons and daughters of God, what we are supposed to do (our mission) and focus on our destiny – the direction in which our lives are heading.
This weekend the Scriptures invite us to look at 3 things in our own lives: the role of community, what change we need and how we grow into deeper faith and trust.
