If so, you may be called to the ministry of spiritual direction. This is a ministry of listening to people, helping them to pray and to discern God’s action and invitation in their lives.
The Jesuit Institute offers the opportunity for intensive training to people who have the gift and call to be spiritual directors. The Spiritual Direction Training (SDT) takes place over three years, predominantly online but with two in-person modules.
Due to the constraints of COVID-19, we are offering special opportunities for those who may have the charism for this training but who may not have had the chance to meet the prerequisites for the SDT. This will be done before we begin our next course in March 2021.
The course requires 8 assignments. Four in year one and four in year two.
There are also practical experiences which include a six session online individually guided observed retreat as well as a minimum of 50 hours of supervised spiritual accompaniment.
This year has no teaching modules but you are required to complete your 50 hours of supervised spiritual direction.
The course facilitators have been training spiritual directors for many years and all have international experience:
We also have an extended team of experienced spiritual directors trained by us who act as mentors and supervisors.
The cost for the course is:
Payment plans are available and a discount will be offered for anyone paying the full amount upfront.
For anyone who genuinely cannot afford the full cost, there are a small number of partial bursaries available.
