Weekly Reflection from CPLO and the Jesuit Institute Week of 18 December 2017

by Paulina French “Christmas waves a magic wand over this world, and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful.” (Norman Vincent Peale)

Christmas, the coming of the Christ Child, reminds us of the reality that God is with us. God comes into our wounded and broken world to bring us Good news, to restore peace, to heal our wounds and to redeem us. These promises from scripture are now thousands of years old and yet they are ever new. We want good governance, we want peace, and we want to live with meaning and purpose as much now as we have at any other time in human history.

Lord Jesus Christ,
this Christmas may my heart be open to your love, so that I may be transformed by your gift of yourself to us.
May I reflect your peace, your love and your compassion to the world.
