Weekly Reflection from CPLO and the Jesuit Institute Week of 17 April 2017
‘There is no moral authority like that of sacrifice’ – Nadine Gordimer
As we celebrate with our risen Lord this Easter, it may be timely to think about the kind of leader Jesus was. Jesus offers us the ultimate model of the good leader: he is one who loves, one who serves, one who places his life, and his death, at the service of others.
The joy of Easter that we are now celebrating is rooted in the sacrifice of Calvary. Do I desire to be a leader like Jesus was? Do I sacrifice for the good of others in my home, in my family, in my community, at school, in business, in politics? Do I follow the model Jesus offers of costly leadership?
Lord teach me to be generous.
Teach me to serve you as you deserve; to give and not to count the cost, to fight and not to heed the wounds, to toil and not to seek for rest, to labour and not to ask for reward, save that of knowing that I do your will.
