Lenten Prayer Reflections by Ron Boudreaux SJ
“The Creator deals directly with the creature, and the creature with its creator and God.” (Annotation 15, The Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius)
God loves each of us in our uniqueness and wants the privilege of dealing with each person individually. Thus, my prayer must begin with who I am at this moment. I can’t begin elsewhere, for God is with me in this moment just as I am. He does not expect me to be other than as I am. But in that intimate relationship with God, I find that there might be changes God would like for me. God does not coerce us, but will give us the grace to come to ourselves and desire what God would desire. I am God’s on-going project.
Creator, God, Lover of all humanity, teach me to be present to myself so that you can be present to me.
For I can only come to know myself by knowing you, and I can only come to know you by truly knowing myself.
