“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1
It is impossible to be faithful when you have nothing to hope for. But it is most important to be hopeful when hope is most difficult.
Without a doubt, these are difficult times.
These are difficult times to be hopeful, loving and courageous but it is for this reason that hope, love and courage must be deliberate and resilient.
The times call for a hope that looks in the face of the improbable and refuses to stand down. They call for a love that is counter-cultural and doesn’t flee into the familiar, and a courage that does not falter at our hour of greatest need.
If hope, love, and courage are all present, then we stand a chance not only to survive our times, but to thrive. We stand a chance to shape a world that is more loving, more hopeful, more courageous and ultimately, more faithful.
Give us resilient and enduring hope.
Keep us from falling into despair.
Let it be Your love and not our fear, that shapes the world.
