This Sunday we celebrate the Feast of the most holy Body and Blood of Christ, Corpus Christi.

The true gift of this feast is that we receive “none other than you, Lord” in the blessed sacrament every time we celebrate Mass.

In the first reading we hear about the priest Melchizidek. His priesthood is modelled on one that keeps nothing for itself. It is rather constitutive of a life of service – most excellently continued by Jesus, whose miracle of the multiplication of the loaves we hear about in the Gospel. This prefigures the Last Supper we hear about in the second reading. This feast becomes the sacrament we commemorate this weekend, everytime the mass is celebrated.
