This weekend’s Scripture texts cut to the very heart of the Christian life. They deal with themes that are demanding, ones perhaps we would rather not like to be confronted with. They challenge us in the most vulnerable part of ourselves – in our very hearts.
In the Gospel we are compelled to consider the process of correction of one another, forgiveness, healing and the consequences of not forgiving. Forgiveness goes to the very heart of authentic Christian living. St Paul, in his letter to the Romans, considers the obligations of charity and how love should direct our decision making.
