There are a few lessons we can learn from our texts this weekend:

Every believer faces trying circumstances, it feels as if God is asking us to step out and ‘walk on water’. It’s in these moments that Jesus says “Do not be afraid!”

Another lesson is that faith does not save us or protect us from the trials of life. The Jesuit, Walter Cizsek, who spent many years in a Russian concentration camp, teaches us a valuable lesson about what faith does do.

We also learn the difference between “shout-out” and “reach-out” in the midst of life’s storms.

Join Fr Russell Pollitt SJ as he reflects on the readings for the 19th Sunday in Ordinary Time.
