Lenten Prayer Reflections by Ron Boudreaux SJ

“Prejudice is a burden that confuses the past, threatens the future and renders the present inaccessible.” (Maya Angelou)

Cultures, histories, experiences can all create ideas that do not help society develop positively.  Instead, they can create wounds that take a very long time to heal, if they ever do.  But, we can move beyond those wounds; things do not have to remain as they are.  Humans have a tremendous ability to move beyond even the greatest obstacles. We must, if humanity is to flourish, learn to respect the dignity of all peoples and discard our ideas that one group is better than another. Some basic elements of human nature might need to be restructured if we are to live in peace with one another and with God.

Heavenly Father, teach me to love the differences among human beings and to respect all humanity.

We are all created in your image and equal in your sight.

Open our eyes to see.
