“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on Religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you will recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me –watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly” Matthew 11 29-30 (The Message)

It’s the time of year where many of us start to feel frazzled and stressed-out. Energy reserves may be running low. We are holding many deep concerns about our country and especially the student protests around education. We may be trying to get on top of the work of the last stretch of the year.  We may be preparing for exams.  We may be battling with personal or relational issues.  It can feel overwhelming.  Perhaps now is a good time to heed the invitation to pause a moment and allow ourselves to remember that we can’t and don’t need to do it all ourselves.  We can take even a few minutes somewhere in the day to consciously remember that we are in partnership with God.

Gracious God,

When we are tired, stressed and overwhelmed by too many demands,

Help us to come to you and to lean on your strength to find new energy to respond with generosity and courage to the needs of the world around us.
