“And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” – (John 8.32)
It is easy to pretend, when it suits us, that there is no real truth out there, only our interpretation. Granted interpretation matters; but it must be an interpretation of something. The truth of what we interpret must, as the poet Walt Whitman noted, satisfy the soul. When we look at reality honestly, interpret it to the best of our ability, and the interpretation gives us a sense that what we think is really true, we are truly free.
help us to seek truth in all areas of our lives.
Make us uncomfortable with mere opinion or what seems expedient.
For in seeking truth that satisfies our souls, we encounter the Truth that is You.
