After the Dublin Report: What is to be done?

The Irish Government’s inquiry into child sexual abuse by clergy in the archdiocese of Dublin is harrowing reading. Following other similar scandals it evokes a disturbing sense of déjà vu. The question is: Will we learn from it?

Another Priest Murdered

The death of Fr Louis Blondel brings to four the number of Catholic priests murdered in South Africa in the past 12 months. The figure suggests that as a group clergy are, like the police, particularly at risk from violence. Fr Bourgeois, who witnessed the killing of Fr Blondel in the Diepsloot presbytery on the night of Sunday/Monday last is reported as saying that he had been hijacked five times.

What happened at Copenhagen?

As the only body in the world that can bring nations together to give them a say in affairs of vital interest to them all, the United Nations convened the Climate Change Conference from the 7th to the 18th of this month. Those of us who are not up-to-date with the ecological debate may have found it all a bit confusing, or taken sides as we do at soccer matches.

We work with people from the business, political and educational sectors as well as those from various faith backgrounds. We are keen to engage with all who have an interest in improving our society.
